I was a youth soccer ref thirty years ago.
I rarely had anyone who came after me about a call.
I didn't make many mistakes but one flub was egregious.
I went to the team benches and apologized. I went to the parent's side of the field and apologized. I was calm and then so were the participants.
What do NHL refs do to keep themselves seen as paragons of virtue after an error?
Perhaps some hubris deflating method should be applied?
